We cannot yet confirm that the Dec. 29 ski-o scheduled for Mt. van Hoevenberg will be held. Snow covering is very thin and with mild temperatures plus rain in the forecast we’ll have to wait and see how the trails hold up. We’ll post a decision by Thursday evening so stay tuned. While coverage on the trails is adequate right now, there is another thaw and rainstorm predicted for the area at the end of this week and conditions will likely deteriorate significantly by Saturday race time. Eighteen eager competitors made the trek up to Lake Placid today for the earliest start ever to a NY ski-o season! For many it was their first time on snow this season and all had to endure extra navigation around ungroomed hills and unplowed roads and we know there will be some sore legs tomorrow. (read more)
