Map Exchange
Courses 3 and 4 will have two map exchanges
in the long event. Both map exchanges will be
in the stadium near the start. Competitors are
responsible for taking the correct map from the
map exchange board which will have their two
maps located under their bib number. The top
map must be taken “rst, the bottom map is the
“nal map.
There will be a marked route into the map
………………………………………………………………………………….
there will be a control that must be punched, and
will be shown on both the previous map, and the
map that has been picked up. A marked route
will bring the skiers back out from the stadium.
Start Procedure (Sprint & Middle)
Your SI number must match the number you
registered with. If you are using a di#erent number,
you must change your number at registration
with ample time before your start.
There will be a -2 min call-up line. You may
not enter the start area more than two minutes
before your start.
At -30 seconds, you will be instructed to insert
your SI card into a control station for identi”cation
and you will move to the start gate. At -15
seconds, the start clock will beep and a volunteer
will hand you your map. At -5 seconds, the
clock will give a warning beep, and then will
beep every second from 3 seconds to your assigned
start time. You may start your race up to
3 seconds before your pre-assigned start time
and no more than 3 seconds after your preassigned
start time. Your time starts when you
trigger the start gate by skiing through it.
If you miss your start, your time will still be
counted from your assigned start time, and you
will not be able to start until the next free start
slot. This may be a long time!
Start Procedure (Long mass start)
M/F21+ will be seeded by WRE points in the
“rst rows, followed by courses 3, 2, and 1 in their
respective rows.
All competitors must be in their start position
3 minutes prior to the start. Maps will be handed
out 2 minutes before the start, and competitors
must hold the map behind their backs with their
left hands. At 15 seconds before the start, a
command “maps!” is given, and competitors may
put the map into their holders. The start will be
given with a sound signal.
Skating is forbidden in the “rst 100 meters.
Finish Procedure
There will be multiple “nish lanes marked
before the “nish line, and you may not change
lanes once you have chosen a lane unless you are
overtaking another skier. Your “nish time will be
recorded electronically when you cross the “nish
line and trigger the light beam. There will be no
“nish punch.
Remember to download before leaving the
“nish area.
Maps will be collected after the sprint and
middle distance races, and will be returned after
the long on Sunday.
Punching
Sportident electronic punching will be used
for all classes in all races. Rental equipment will
be available for free, but if lost a $40 fee will be
charged
