Mt. Van Hoevenberg, Biathlon Stadium
Be aware that there are some red one way arrows on the map. They are there to help prevent head on collisions with recreational skiers on the trails, and are the only one-ways you have to obey. You do not have to obey the one way or directional signs on the trails. If you see that you are going against traffic and there are no red arrows you are ok, but please smile and give the other skiers plenty of room.
Most of the courses will have controls on both sides of the main road, and while there is no rule preventing you from taking off your skis and running across the road, it will be to your advantage to use the ski trails.
Please remember to clear and check at registration.
We hope you enjoy the first class grooming at Mt Van Hoevenberg!

Visitors Interpretive Center, Paul Smiths, NY
A word about ski choice: there will be plenty of double poling up hill on narrow tracks and navigating through deep snow. This venue is not like Van Ho where all the trails are race trails. It has some wide skate lanes, lots of 4 foot wide classic trails and many non-groomed ski and snowshoe tracks.
Every effort has been made to properly differentiate between the various levels of grooming on the map. Please be aware that there are many random deer herd and snowshoe paths that should not be mistaken for the mapped trails.
If you are headed across the open bog areas please stay on the trails. There is no advantage to be gained otherwise and you just might find yourself in icy water that is deeper than you expected.
We hope you enjoy your tour through this wonderful natural area!
