The NYSSRA Championship Ski-O event will be held on Feb. 22 at Mt. van Hoevenberg near Lake Placid. The race is open to all – New York state residency is not a requirement. This year’s format will have a special twist with the race designed to be run as a one-person relay! There will be 2 courses offered: Long – 4 loops, about 11.5 km and Short – 2 loops, about 5 km. There will be a map exchange at the end of each loop. There will be a mass start at 12 noon, but the order of loops will be different and racers won’t know which order their competitors are skiing them!
There will be a prize for the fastest male and female, Open and Masters, skier on both the Long and Short courses. You may choose to end your race after 1,2 or 3 loops but only those completing the 2 and 4 loops as registered will be eligible for prizes.
Registration will open at 10:30 in the Biathlon building. All racers must be ready to leave for the remote Start location at 11:30.
SI and AIR+ timing will be used. SI sticks and map holders will be available for a small fee. Courses will close at 3:30 pm.
Registration fee is $20 per competitor. This includes a trail pass and should be paid at ski-o check-in at the biathlon building, NOT at the cross country lodge.
Please email Janet Findlay at jfindlay@roadrunner.com if intending to participate – include your course, SI number, age and any questions you might have. Looking forward to seeing you on the 22nd!
