Ski-O participants can now register online for this year’s Empire State Games at https://www.empirestatewintergames.com/sports/ski-orienteering. Saturday’s event will be at Dewey Mt. in Saranac Lake while Sunday’s will be at Paul Smith’s VIC. Race times and further information to be posted shortly!

From Aims Coney: “The current weather is wind-driven sleet and freezing rain. I could skate ski on the paved road. This has to be helping the base at Garnet Hill. Snow begins Tuesday and it’s likely to be snowing during our event New Year’s Day. Control hanging will be Tuesday. I will post another update (read more)

12/26 update: Our course setters toured Garnet Hill on Thursday and found enough terrain to hold the event, rock skis recommended. We’ll keep watching the weather. Tuesday night’s forecasted snow showers should help a lot. Check the Attackpoint event listing for further updates.

Although the groomers at van Ho have done miracles with what they have to work with, the snow covering is very thin & icy, and there is limited terrain open. Dec. 29 Ski-O Update
We cannot yet confirm that the Dec. 29 ski-o scheduled for Mt. van Hoevenberg will be held. Snow covering is very thin and with mild temperatures plus rain in the forecast we’ll have to wait and see how the trails hold up. We’ll post a decision by Thursday evening so stay tuned.
